President Donald Trump’s reelection campaign filed a lawsuit Friday against CNN, alleging the global news brand of “false and defamatory” statements about seeking Russia’s help in the 2020 election.
Trump has long warred with CNN, accusing the network and other major news outlets of airing what he has referred to as “fake news” about his campaign and administration. Trump has also filed suits against The New York Times and The Washington Post.
"The complaint alleges CNN was aware of the falsity at the time it published them but did so for the intentional purpose of hurting the campaign while misleading its own readers in the process," Jenna Ellis, the campaign's senior legal adviser, told Fox News.
The complaint was filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia, the network said.

While an unspecified amount of damages is being requested, the complaint is requesting a jury trial and damages in the millions.
