A Troup County grand jury has indicted the man accused of killing five people inside his LaGrange-area home earlier this year.

Thomas Jesse Lee, 26, was indicted Tuesday on 11 felony charges, including five counts of malice murder, one count of felony murder, one count of aggravated assault and four counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

The charges stem from the late January deaths of his wife, 33-year-old Christie Lee; father-in-law, 69-year-old William Burtron; mother-in-law, 68-year-old Sheila Burtron; stepdaughter, 16-year-old Bailey Burtron; and family friend, 18-year-old Iaonna Green. All five shared a home on Woodstream Trail with Thomas Jesse Lee, who was arrested in Tupelo, Miss., on Feb. 2.

Indictments accuse Lee of shooting his wife, mother-in-law, father-in-law and Green, and suffocating his stepdaughter by “obstructing her airway with a gagging device.” Lee is also accused of “strangulating” and “striking” his father-in-law.

No possible motive has been provided for the killings. Lee was denied bond in February.
