8-year-old on bicycle hit by truck
An 8-year-old on a bicycle was struck when entering a road in Coweta County.
An 8-year-old boy was hit by a truck Wednesday afternoon in Coweta County, officials said.
He was riding his bicycle in the 3200 block of Corinth Road in Newnan, Georgia State Patrol spokesman Cpl. Chris McEntyre said. When he rode from the front yard into the southbound lane of Corinth Road, a white 2000 Chevrolet Silverado struck him.
After flying off his bike, the boy landed in the road, McEntyre said. The truck driver stayed and was cooperating with the investigating state troopers.
The boy was alert when he was flown to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston.
The crash is still under investigation, but speed is not likely a factor, McEntyre said.
