A 65-year-old Georgia woman died Saturday night when she was struck by a speeding dirt bike while trying to walk across Palm Beach Lakes Boulevard, city police said Sunday.

Witnesses estimated the dirt bike was traveling at more than 60 mph when it struck Patricia Foust of Stone Mountain, Ga., at about 9 p.m. at Robbins Drive and Palm Beach Lakes Boulevard, said Sgt. David Lefont, city police spokesman.

Foust came to rest more than 100 feet southwest of the crosswalk, and West Palm Beach Fire Rescue pronounced her dead at the scene.

The dirt bike rider, a 17-year-old from West Palm Beach, was in serious condition Sunday morning at a hospital. The person’s name was not immediately available. The rider is expected to recover from the injuries, Lefont said.

Original post: A fatal crash Saturday night closed roads near Palm Beach Lakes Boulevard and Robbins Drive, West Palm Beach police said.

A pedestrian and a motorcycle were involved in the crash, west of Interstate 95, police said.
