A Gwinnett County police cruiser was involved in a fiery, single-vehicle wreck on Sugarloaf Parkway early Monday, according to officials.

“This incident appears to be medical-related,” Gwinnett police Cpl. Michele Pihera told AJC.com in a statement.

The officer wrecked at the intersection of Sugarloaf Parkway and Ga. 124. It was first reported at 5 a.m.

“Other responding officers used a fire extinguisher on the flames,” Pihera said.

The officer was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.
