Truck carrying pipes crashes into median, causes hours of delays on I-20 in DeKalb

Authorities closed all lanes of I-20 in DeKalb County on Thursday morning after a tractor-trailer carrying pipes crashed into a median.
The truck hit the center wall at Panola Road just before 4:30 a.m., spilling its contents into the westbound lanes. The interstate was blocked in both directions for nearly three hours as a result, according to the WSB 24-hour Traffic Center.

During the shutdown, there were major westbound delays leaving Conyers. The ride from Turner Hill to Panola roads was a slow 102 minutes at the height of the backups, the Traffic Center reported.
Authorities reopened the westbound lanes about 6:50 a.m., and the eastbound lanes were cleared just before 7:30 a.m.
DeKalb police said no one was injured during the incident.
