Authorities shut down a busy downtown Atlanta intersection Friday morning after a crash involving a MARTA officer took out a light pole.

A passenger vehicle hit the officer’s cruiser at the intersection of Forsyth and Luckie streets, Channel 2 Action News reported. The officer was not injured, but the driver of the other vehicle sustained minor injuries, authorities on scene told the news station.

The entire block was closed for several hours until authorities reopened Luckie Street about 6:45 a.m. Forsyth Street reopened soon after.

As a result of the closure, MARTA is reporting delays along the Atlanta Streetcar route.

“That’s a very busy intersection right there,” WSB traffic reporter Mark Arum said. “Thankfully, it’s happened early, (with) traffic volume light through downtown.”

To avoid any lingering delays, Marietta Street is the best alternate, he said.
