A head-on crash at a busy Clayton County intersection sent three people to the hospital with injuries Friday morning.

Two of those people are in serious condition, Clayton County police told AJC.com. Though the investigation is ongoing, police said it appears one of the drivers ran a stop sign.

The wreck occurred at Conley and Old Conley roads shortly before 9 a.m. and prompted a “complete closure of the roadway,” Clayton police said in a tweet.

“It’s an accident with injuries that appears to be a head-on collision,” Clayton County police spokeswoman Lt. Cherie West told AJC.com.

Drivers were urged to avoid the area for about three hours. All lanes reopened just before noon, police said.
