As a fast-moving storm swept through metro Atlanta Wednesday night, a woman was killed in a seven-vehicle crash on I-85 North before Senoia Road in Fairburn, police said.

“As it appears, the car hydroplaned, struck the median wall and created a chain reaction,” Fairburn police Sgt. Mario Jones told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution on Thursday.

The accident killed Gwenetta Campbell, 51, of College Park, according to the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s office.

The crash temporarily blocked all lanes, Fairburn police said in a statement.

It was one two deadly crashes that occurred overnight in south Fulton County.

In the second crash, Charles Donall, 29, of Douglasville, was hit and killed on Fulton Industrial Boulevard at Marvin Miller Drive.

Just before the fatal accident, witnesses saw Donall standing in the middle of the road about 3 a.m. Thursday, Fulton police spokeswoman Patrena Smith told Channel 2 Action News.

The driver remained on the scene and will not face charges.

No other details about the crashes were released.
