Marietta intersection reopens after train hits truck
An intersection near Marietta Square reopened Friday after a train hit a tractor-trailer, officials said.
About 10 a.m., a CSX train with three locomotives and 154 rail cars hit the truck at Loudermilk Drive and Marble Mill Road in Cobb County, spokeswoman Kristin Seay said. The train was traveling from Waycross to Cincinnati and was carrying mixed freight.
No injuries were reported. The train was moved from the area about 3:15 p.m., Seay said.
The tractor-trailer was on the tracks when the train struck it, Marietta police spokeswoman Brittany Wallace said. Cobb fire and CSX representatives also responded.
The tractor-trailer driver, whose identity was not available, was cited for vehicle or load dragging on highway, and wheels causing pounding on road surface, Wallace said.
