Two lanes of the southeast Perimeter were closed for more than two hours Thursday morning while authorities investigated a deadly crash involving a pedestrian.

An unidentified man was hit by a pickup truck while he was walking on the exit ramp from I-285 East to Jonesboro Road, according to the Georgia State Patrol. He was dead when troopers arrived about 6:30 a.m.

The driver of the pickup, a Chevrolet Silverado, stopped immediately after the accident, a spokesman for the GSP said. Charges have not been determined as the investigation is ongoing.

All eastbound lanes of I-285 were temporarily shut down when Atlanta police first responded to the scene. Two left lanes quickly reopened, and the rest of the interstate reopened shortly before 9 a.m., according to the WSB 24-hour Traffic Center.
