If you’ve enjoyed the weather this week, you’re going to like how Thursday unfolds.

North Georgia is going to be warm and mostly sunny — again. Temperatures are headed for a high of 75 degrees in Atlanta, which is more typical in early May than mid-March, according to Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brian Monahan.

“It should be a great day for your outside plans today,” he said. “Tomorrow we stay warm, and Saturday it gets even warmer. Parts of North Georgia could be close to 80 degrees by Saturday afternoon.”

Monahan said Thursday will start with a mix of clouds and sunshine before skies turn partly cloudy for the afternoon. An area of high pressure sitting stationary over North Georgia will help temperatures reach the mid-70s by 5 p.m., he said.

“Getting into the weekend, this high is slowly going to weaken and start to push away a bit, but still warm as we finish up the weekend,” he said.

Friday and Saturday could both see temperatures reach 77 degrees, according to Channel 2. Sunday’s projected high is only slightly lower at 76 degrees, and rain chances stay low through the weekend.

“It will be a little wet to start your work week,” Monahan said. “Still kind of mild though on Monday with high temperatures around 70 degrees.”

Despite ongoing roadwork, metro Atlanta interstates are moving well to begin the Thursday morning drive. There are no major delays at 6:30 a.m., according to the WSB 24-hour Traffic Center.

Any lingering construction projects should wrap up before sunrise. On the Southside, crews have already cleared I-75 South at Ga. 138 and only minimal delays remain, the Traffic Center reported.
