Months after a 17-year-old was gunned down inside a South Fulton apartment complex, the man believed to be responsible for his death is behind bars.

Devonta Hicks, 20, was arrested last week in connection with the Aug. 16 shooting of Ke’Sean Palmer, South Fulton police announced Thursday. The Atlanta man is charged with murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, department spokesman Lt. Jubal Rogers said.

According to police, the fatal shooting stemmed from an argument between Hicks and Palmer at a complex along Oakley Industrial Boulevard. Officers were called to the scene about 6:45 p.m. and discovered the teen on the ground with a gunshot wound. He was taken to the hospital, but died of his injuries.

The following month, police released surveillance photos of the shooting suspect at a nearby convenience store and announced a $2,000 reward for information in the case.

The photos appeared to show Hicks wearing a red hoodie and matched the description of the shooter given by witnesses at the scene, police said, adding that investigators received several tips through Crime Stoppers.

Hicks was being held at the Fulton County Jail on Thursday afternoon without bond.
