The U.S. Senate confirmed three nominees to the federal bench in Georgia on Tuesday night.

DeKalb County State Court Judge Eleanor Ross and Atlanta attorney Mark Cohen will serve on the U.S. District Court in Atlanta. Federal prosecutor Leslie Joyce Abrams will serve on the U.S. District Court in Albany.

All three were confirmed unanimously. They were part of a group negotiated among White House officials and Georgia’s Republican U.S. senators, Johnny Isakson and Saxby Chambliss.

Six of Georgia’s seven nominees were confirmed this year. Democrats have blocked Georgia Court of Appeals Judge Michael Boggs — in a rare rebuke of a presidential nominee by his own party — because of Boggs’ positions on abortion, gay rights and keeping the old state flag with the Confederate battle emblem while serving in the Legislature.
