Republican Donald J. Trump is now officially the 45th president of the United States. The New York businessman took the oath of office, which was administered by Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts, at noon on the west front of the U.S. Capitol.
Minutes before, Indiana Gov. Mike Pence was sworn-in as vice president by Supreme Court Associate Justice Clarence Thomas, a native of Pin Point, Ga.
Trump’s surprise election night victory over Democratic rival Hillary Clinton came after a divisive and often ugly campaign for the presidency that included allegations of sexual harassment, corruption, Russian involvement to influence voters and non-stop revelations related to the emails of Clinton and her top aides.

Trump is expected to immediately begin rolling back many of the legacy items of his predecessor through executive actions and work with the GOP-led Congress. High on his agenda is nullifying several of Barack Obama’s immigration orders, environmental regulations and installing a five-year lobbying ban for members of his new administration.
