Which of Georgia’s college sports programs had the highest percent of revenue from subsidies in 2014? Data compiled by the Chronicle of Higher Education shows that subsidies, usually made up of institutional subsidies and student fees, support many college sports programs in Georgia.

University of Georgia (3.2%) The Bulldogs prove their athletic program can stand on its own. The Dogs had the largest revenue and smallest subsidy of any other Georgia college or university. Athletics revenue: $103,495,587; Subsidies: $3,274,712

Georgia Institute of Technology (10.4%) The Yellow Jackets are one of the few Georgia athletics programs that were supported by less than 60 percent in subsidies in 2014. Athletics revenue: $68,469,538; Subsidies: $7,107,777

Savannah State University (67%) Athletics revenue: $6,033,864; Subsidies: $4,042,460

Georgia Southern University (71.6%) Athletics revenue: $18,929,350; Subsidies: $13,550,186

Georgia State University (76%) Athletics revenue: $27,093,316; Subsidies: $20,692,717

Kennesaw State University (85.1%) Kennesaw arguably saw the smallest return-on-investment when it came to subsidies compared to revenue. Athletics revenue: $17,516,000; Subsidies: $14,907,125.
