The Smyrna man killed in Tuesday morning's multi-vehicle wreck on I-75 in Bartow County has been identified as 38-year-old Gabriel DeSantiago-Pichardo.

Cartersville police Capt. Mark Camp said DeSantiago-Pichardo was driving a northbound Honda Accord that hit a Ford truck that had spun out just north of the Etowah River bridge in Bartow County.

Both DeSantiago-Pichardo and the driver of the truck got out of their vehicles, and DeSantiago-Pichardo was hit by another Honda Accord that swerved to miss the two wrecked vehicles.

The chain-reaction crash, which began about 6:15 a.m., shut down all northbound lanes of I-75 for more than an hour.

Camp said no charges have been filed, but the investigation is ongoing.
