As many as 14 cars may have been involved in a pile-up on Interstate 75-85 on the Downtown Connector late Sunday morning.

Emergency crews were on the scene at the crash that happened between 10th Street and 14th Street.

Atlanta police spokesman John Chafee initially said 20 cars were involved in the chain-reaction crash, but that was not the case.

In an afternoon update, Chafee said 14 cars were involved in the crash. He explained that a group of cars were traveling north on the connector in a line when another vehicle cut one of the cars off, causing several vehicles to become involved in an accident.

“Several cars toward the back of the line became involved in accidents as they attempted to stop for the initial accident. It appears that there were four separate accidents related to this and a total of 14 vehicles involved. There were no injuries,” Chafee said.

The crash shut down multiple lanes of the connector for several hours.
