A man accused of fondling himself in his car near Town Center Mall two days in a row was identified and arrested, thanks to help from witnesses.
Christopher Bryant Junkin of Cartersville was arrested and charged with two counts of public indecency and booked into the Cobb County jail, where he was being held Tuesday morning on $20,000 bond, booking records showed. Junkin has been a registered sex offender since a 2005 conviction for child molestation, according to the GBI's Georgia Sex Offender Registry. And in 2010, he pleaded guilty to a public indecency charge in Gwinnett County, court records show.
On Aug. 2, three women told police a man exposed himself at the intersection of Cobb Parkway and Barrett Parkway and was videotaping himself, according to an arrest warrant obtained by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The women were able to provide a detective with pictures and video of the man, the warrant states.
The next day, a similar incident was reported at the same location, according to police. The victim on Aug. 3 was able to provide investigators with a partial tag number for a blue Pontiac allegedly involved in both incidents. Investigators identified the suspect as Junkin, who was arrested Friday, jail records show.
During the investigation, Cobb police determined that Junkin was arrested in 2009 for a similar incident near the Mall of Georgia in Buford, the arrest warrant states. Gwinnett County court records show Junkin pleaded guilty in March 2010 and was sentenced to 12 months of confinement.
