A 25-year-old Cobb County woman and her unborn child were killed in a three-vehicle wreck Monday morning in Mableton, according to police.

Investigators believe the driver of a 2013 Honda CR-V, Shen Jiang, was exiting the Sierra Forest Apartments at 6660 Mableton Parkway when she drove into the path of an Acura 3.2TL traveling southbound, Officer Mike Bowman said late Monday. Jiang’s Honda struck the Acura on the passenger side, Bowman said.

The impact caused the Acura to cross over the center line into the path of a 2005 Cadillac Deville, Bowman said. The front of the Cadillac also hit the side of the Acura, driven by Kaia N. Gumbs, 25, of Austell, according to police.

Gumbs was taken by ambulance to Grady Memorial Hospital, where she and her unborn child were pronounced dead, police said. No information was released on the child’s gestational age.

The driver of the Cadillac, Jerrie P. Evans, 80, of Mableton, was taken to Atlanta Medical Center for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash, Bowman said. Jiang, 33, of Mableton, was not injured.

Charges are expected to be filed in the crash pending the outcome of the investigation, Bowman said. Anyone with information on the crash is asked to call 770-499-3987.
