DeKalb County police have identified the man who died after being shot in the front yard of his home late Sunday as 25-year-old Damatre Hedrick.

The shooting happened about 11 p.m. Sunday outside the victim’s home on Beech Drive off Memorial Drive.

Channel 2 Action News reported that Hedrick was walking up to his home when he was approached by a lone gunman who fired several shots.

DeKalb police Capt. Stephen Fore said Hedrick, who was shot multiple times, was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he later died.

Police could be seen bagging up cash found at the scene, Channel 2 reported.
