Douglasville police released photos of a man suspected of robbing the Ice Jewelry store at Arbor Place Mall at gunpoint.

Douglasville police have released photos of a man suspected of robbing an Arbor Place jewelry store at gunpoint Thursday, and investigators are requesting help from the public to identify him.

The robbery targeted Ice Jewelry in the Douglas County mall, where the man pointed a handgun at a store employee and demanded a specific watch, Douglasville police said in a Facebook post. The man left with the watch and fled in a black Dodge Charger with a dealer tag from Atlanta Luxury Motors, a used car dealership with franchises across the Atlanta metro area.

No further information was shared about the value of the watch or whether any other items were taken.

Douglasville police did not report any shots fired or injuries, a welcome development after a similar armed robbery at a jewelry store in Town Center mall in Kennesaw in early May. In that case, several shots were fired, injuring a store employee and setting off panic in the mall, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution previously reported.

However, crime has plagued shopping centers all over metro Atlanta in the past 18 months, with more than a dozen shootings reported at different malls. In December, Arbor Place Mall was the scene of a fight between two women that erupted into gunfire, although no one was hurt, the AJC previously reported.

Just a few weeks later, in January, a large fight involving mostly teenagers broke out near the mall’s movie theater. The fight led to charges against 10 people, the AJC reported.

Anyone with information about Thursday’s jewelry store robbery is asked to contact Detective Nathan Shumaker by calling 678-293-1643 or through email at shumakern@douglasvillega.gov.
