Photos: I-16 in Georgia closed after interstate bridge damaged

An unusual crash in South Georgia shut down I-16, a major highway between Macon and Savannah, after the trailer of a dump truck struck an overhead bridge with enough force to shift the bridge deck by several feet. Here are images of the bridge and the crash site, which is near Soperton between Dublin and Savannah.

Crews finished the demolition of the damaged I-16 bridge on Thursday evening. A seven-mile stretch of interstate in Treutlen County remains closed Friday as work begins to haul away debris.
