Gerald "Jerry" Grinstein was the CEO for Delta Air Lines from 2004 through 2007 and steered the company out of bankruptcy.

Grinstein, shown here in 2004, came to Delta in 1987, when Delta merged with Western Airlines, Inc., of which he was president and CEO. His first roles at Delta were as a director and as a non-executive chairman. (T. Levette Bagwell/AJC 2004 file)

Together they would lead the company through years of financial crisis and would fend off a hostile takeover bid by US Airways.
