Flames were seen shooting through the attic of Avana on Main, a four-story apartment building in the 500 block of Main Street in Buckhead.

The Atlanta Fire Rescue Department responded to the scene just before 12:30 p.m., agency spokesman Sgt. Cortez Stafford told AJC.com.

Investigators said the fire reached a common attic before spreading throughout the building, causing a large portion of the roof to collapse.

“We think we got everyone out,” Stafford said, adding firefighters are going door to door to make sure no residents are still inside.

The fire was still burning after 3 p.m. Firefighters were working to extinguish hot spots.

There have been no reports of injuries, according to the department.

It is not clear how many people have been displaced, but the American Red Cross has been called in to assist those impacted by the blaze, according to agency spokesman American Red Cross spokeswoman Sherry Nicholson. Volunteers are en route to offer aid, she said.
