RELIGION

9/11 attackers all about evil, not religion

It is important to realize that the Sept. 11 terrorists were no more Muslims than members of the Ku Klux Klan were Christians. Similar to the KKK, they were racists full of hatred who used a religion to advance their evil ways.

ECONOMY

Voters must pick leaders who’ll lift productivity

As we approach the November elections, petty party bickering dominates campaigns. We as voters must rise above this “noise” and make rational choices fostering real economic recovery and growth for our nation and our state.

The keys to a production economy are innovation, investment, work force, and exports. The innovations produced by America’s university faculties and graduates are a strong foundation on which we can build.

However, graduates of America’s (and especially Georgia’s) schools are finding that they are inadequately prepared to compete with their peers from other nations. Our investments in corporate and university research lag behind other nations.

Our rail and communications systems have not kept pace due to a lack of infrastructure investments. Education and worker productivity are hampered by declining literacy, inadequate vocational training in advanced technology, and poor public health.

For lasting economic growth, we share a responsibility to elect representatives who will lead in improving productivity and exports through increased investments, and in improvements in the health and education of our children and our work force.

POLITICS

No growth, just blame; Let’s stop the madness!

Our economy is no longer spiraling, but growth is nowhere to be seen. Our president simply talks of raising taxes and blames Republicans, regardless of the fact that in nearly two years of congressional control, he has accomplished little to fulfill his promises of hope and change.

Republicans are right to oppose tax increases, but have yet to put forth a strong proposal of solutions of their own. Tea partiers (especially Sarah Palin) are unfit to lead. Our economy cannot sustain any new taxes, and additional spending, even under the guise of a “jobs program” is the folly of an election year panic for votes.

Please, stop the entitlement madness.

POLITICS

Luckovich shows only partisan rancor, not wit

Mike Luckovich, we get it. You love Obama, and hate Republicans. In spite of the poor approval rating for Obama, you will rarely say anything negative against him. You will rip any Republican, though.

A balanced approach could be very funny. Unfortunately, your comments are not funny — as they are so over the top that they show your spleen.
