Rick Badie joined The Atlanta Journal-Constitution as an education reporter in 1997. A South Georgia native, he’s covered the region’s immigrant communities, was a feature obituary writer and opinion columnist for the AJC’s Gwinnett edition.

Georgia and Tennessee are in a standoff as it relates to water and state boundary lines. Georgia, in search of a long-term solution to quench its thirst, wants to tap the Tennessee River. Volunteer officials refuse to grant access. Today, we present both views of the ongoing dispute.
