After a short illness, Cathy Vail went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on August 28, 2021.
Cathy was born July 16, 1962 to Carolyn and Robert Barnes. After graduating from Roswell High School in Roswell, GA, she attended Georgia Baptist School of Nursing with visions of becoming a nurse. Those dreams changed when she met the love of her life, Forrest Vail. They were married on Dec 6, 1986. They were blessed with 6 children and 2 'grandchildren'. Their journey together started in Grayson, GA; then Barnegat, NJ, and ended in Gardner, KS. Cathy loved home schooling her children and being involved in church at each stop along the way. She was an avid reader and loved spending time with her family and friends.
Cathy was preceded in death by her parents Carolyn and Robert Barnes. Sister Cheryl Barnes. Mother in law and father in law Doris and Don Vail.
She is survived by her husband, Forrest Vail. children, Joshua, Laura, Timothy, Benjamin, Amanda (Brandon), Daniel. 'Grandson', Nathaniel Vail, 'granddaughter', Katie Boardman. Brothers and sisters, Ralph Barnes, Cindy (Barnes) and Rick Pasi, Butch and Nancy Barnes. 'Sister-in-law' and husband Robin (Vail) and David Rayburn, and several nieces, nephews, cousins and numerous friends.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Lenexa Baptist Church Mission Fund.
Flowers can be sent to either Penwell-Gable funeral home or Lenexa Baptist church.
