MILLER (DEVILLIERS), Juliet

Juliet deVilliers Miller passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 29, 2021 in Atlanta, Georgia. Known as Ju-Ju to her friends, and Momee to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she was the oldest of three children born to Juliet Boyd deVilliers and Edward Brenton deVilliers in Mobile, Alabama. She attended parochial schools in Mobile and New Orleans, and college at Louisiana State University. While at LSU she was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority and a sweetheart of Sigma Chi. During college she met the love of her life, Jim Miller (James Hugh Miller, Jr.), who was an electrical engineering student at Tulane University. They married in Mobile, Alabama in 1945 and had four children, Juliet (Ju-Ju) Miller Beale (Mac), James Hugh (Popsi) Miller lll (Kathy), Robert Boyd Miller (Ginger), and Ashley Miller Crosier (Rick). In 1957 Ju-Ju and Jim moved to Birmingham where they raised three of their four children before Jim was transferred to Atlanta where they raised their fourth child, Ashley. While living in Birmingham, she served on the City of Mountain Brook Parks and Recreation Board. Ju-Ju was a member of the Junior League of Mobile, the Junior League of Birmingham, and the Junior League of Atlanta. She was also a member of Mountain Brook Club, New Era Study Club, Capital City Club, Piedmont Driving Club, and the Alabama Club. She was predeceased by her husband Jim, her parents, her sister Carol deVilliers Granger, and her brother Edward Brenton deVilliers, Jr. She is survived by her children, and by her grandchildren Katherine Miller Short, Juliet Miller Milam, Grace Miller Kenerly, Elizabeth Miller Alden, Miller Beale Girvin, Sarah Crosier Kaplan, Mary Boyd Crosier, Virginia Miller Nash, and James Sherrod Miller. She is also survived by 15 great-grandchildren. The family invites friends to join them at Mountain Brook Club, 19 Beechwood Road, Birmingham, Alabama, on September 8, 2021, from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM for a celebration of their mother's life. Special thanks to her wonderful caregivers Lisa Bogus and the team of Gaddiel Home Care Services for their attentive care of Ju-Ju in her final years.
