Police in Pennsylvania have located the mother who allegedly abandoned a toddler in Philadelphia Saturday morning.

Update 6:30 p.m. EDT May 5: Philadelphia police said in a Facebook post Sunday that they have located the mother of the toddler who was left with a stranger Saturday morning in the city's Kensington neighborhood.

Investigators said they are interviewing the woman and have not decided whether charges will be filed in the case.

Original story: According to WPVI-TV, a woman who said she was the girl's mother left the child, who is about 18 months old, with a stranger in Philadelphia's Kensington neighborhood about 7:30 a.m., authorities said.

"The mother asked the witness if she could watch her baby briefly," Philadelphia police said in a Facebook post. "After 20 minutes, the mother did not return, and the witness contacted police."

Authorities said the girl is safe and under observation at a hospital in the area.

Now, investigators are seeking the public's help to identify the child and track down her mother.

Police are urging anyone with information about the case to call the Philadelphia Police Department's Special Victims Unit at 215-685-3251.
