A 53-year-old Rhode Island man was arrested and charged with assault and battery Saturday after an incident at a Chuck E. Cheese's in Attleboro, Massachusetts.
The man, identified as Daniel Lafayette, was accused of "knocking a 6-year-old girl out of his way," when she reached to pick up tokens he had dropped at the children's entertainment center, The Associated Press reported. According to the AP, Lafayette kicked the girl.
The Sun Chronicle reports Lafayette was arrested on a bench inside a nearby Burlington Coat Factory after the girl's mother gave authorities a description, police said.
Lafayette told police the girl had been trying to steal his tokens.
The girl’s mother said her daughter had been trying to help Lafayette pick up his dropped tokens.
Lafayette pleaded not guilty to the assault and battery charge and was released Monday on $500 cash bail.
