The Columbia County Sheriff's Office said a teenage girl shot and killed her brother overnight.
The 15-year-old girl allegedly got a gun from the parents' bedroom and shot her 16-year-old brother, police said. Officers responded to a home in the 1200 block of Sophia Drive in White Springs around 10 p.m.
Police arrived to find the boy dead in the living room.
White Springs police contacted the CCSO after two juvenile girls told police officers about a shooting at the home.
Police are investigating the incident as a homicide, and don't believe at this time it was an accident.
The teenage girl has been booked on one count of premeditated murder and is being held without bond.
Two other siblings, ages 11 and 3, were home at the time of the incident. The parents were out of town during the shooting, said CCSO.
This is an ongoing investigation.
