An Alabama boy was shot and killed Saturday as two other family members exchanged gunfire in Birmingham, police said.

According to WIAT-TV, the deadly shooting happened about 2:30 p.m. in Collegeville. The family members involved in the dispute "fired weapons at each other," striking Tanarius Moore, 5, WVTM-TV reported.

Birmingham police said the boy was unresponsive when they arrived at the scene. He was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital, the news outlets reported.

Police have detained one suspect in connection with the incident, according to WIAT and WVTM. No further information was immediately available.
