A North Carolina woman is facing new drug charges after she was arrested on suspicion of bringing methamphetamine into court for a hearing on previous drug charges.
Brooke Ann Kellems, 24, was scheduled to appear in court Tuesday in Randolph County on possession of heroin and drug paraphernalia charges, according to WGHP-TV.
When Kellems went through a security check point at the courthouse, WGHP reported that officials spotted a round container in the metal bowl that holds personal items as a person walks through the metal detector.
Investigators identified a substance in the container as meth.
Kellems was arrested and charged with felony possession of methamphetamine and misdemeanor drug paraphernalia charges, the news station reported.
She was then taken back to court for the hearing on the original drug charges.
