She may be the first lady of Maine, but at work, she's simply Ann, and she'll be happy to take your order.

The wife of America’s lowest-paid governor has taken a summer job as a waitress.

Ann LePage, wife of Maine Gov. Paul LePage, was discovered to be working as a waitress at McSeagull's, despite trying to keep a low profile.

The governor’s wife has a goal that many teenagers could relate to – she’s saving up money to buy a car. Ann LePage is seeking to purchase a Toyota RAV 4 with her waitress earnings.

The LePages’ daughter worked at the same restaurant last summer.

The salary for Maine’s governor is $70,000, far below the national average of $135,000.

Ann LePage told The Associated Press that waitressing was "something I've always, always wanted to do." Previously, Ann LePage had been a caregiver for her mother, who died in October after a long illness.

Locals seem impressed by Ann LePage’s work ethic, with one resident saying it “embraces the best of Maine.”
