1. Police described Houser as a drifter from Phenix City, Ala. He arrived in Louisiana in early July.

2. He had an older arrest record, with crimes dating back 10 to 15 years, AL.com reported. One of the arrests involved arson, police said. The other was selling alcohol to a minor, police added.

3. He was not currently married, but was in the past. His former wife, along with other family members had asked for a temporary protective order against Houser. That request was filed in 2008. Court documents said Houser "exhibited extreme erratic behavior and has made ominous as well as disturbing statements," AL.com reported. He also apparently had a history of mental health issues. The court paperwork had examples of "manic depreesion and/or bi-polar disorder."

4. Houser's former wife removed all of his weapons in 2008. In the court filing, Kellie Maddox Houser said that she had "become so worried about the defendant's volatile mental state that she has removed all guns and/or weapons from their marital residence," AL.com reported. There is no word on where Houser got the gun used in Thursday's deadly shooting.

5. A LinkedIn profile believed to be Houer's lists jobs in Georgia. He was the owner/operator of Rusty's Buckhead Pub in Lagrange, Georgia from 1998-2000. He also was the owner/operator of Peachtree Pub in Columbus, Georgia from 1979 until 1980.  His most recent experrience is listed as a real estate developer/layout maximization in Phenix City, Alabama. The timeframe of that job was only eight months in 2006. He had a law degree from Faulkner University and an accounting degree from Columbus State University. He listed his skills on his profile as finanical analysis, market forecast, public speaking and God's business.
