Nobody will be calling this Louisiana bank robbery suspect a smooth criminal after surveillance cameras caught him taking several tumbles in the bushes during his apparent getaway.
According to KTBS-TV, the awkward escape occurred shortly before 11 a.m. Monday after a masked man holding a handgun demanded cash at the WESLA Federal Credit Union in Shreveport, Caddo Parish sheriff's deputies said.
"After getting an undisclosed amount of cash, he fled the business eastbound on Williamson Way, tripping several times in the parking lot and dropping cash and an Urban Camo mask," the Sheriff's Office said in a Facebook post Monday afternoon.
The accompanying video, which shows the man flailing and running toward the street, quickly went viral, racking up nearly 9,000 views by Tuesday morning.
"Not the sharpest tool in the shed, that's for sure!" one viewer commented.
"Something tells me he's not a pro," added another.
Deputies are still looking for the suspect, who is 5 feet, 8 inches to 6 feet tall, according to the post. He was dressed in a black hoodie, pants and shoes with "neon yellow gloves," officials said.
Investigators also suspect that a driver in "a light-colored four-door Dodge SUV, possibly a Caliber," dropped off the man before the robbery, according to the Sheriff's Office.
"The same vehicle may have waited down the road and picked up the robber after the crime," the post said.
The suspect also might have attempted to rob another bank earlier that morning, but the building's doors were locked, deputies said.
