Some say that history is written by the winners and the expense of the losers.  Now Colorado has found itself in the center of a debate on how the subject of U.S. history is taught.

According to the Guardian, Pam Mazanec, a member of the Colorado board of education said that the country did practice slavery, but that it was ended voluntarily during a Facebook augument in September.

A Duke university professor, inspired by the quote, created the hashtag #volunaryhistory, mocking Mazanec according to the Guardian's report.  Now #voluntaryhistory has taken on a life of its own.  Read some of the tweets below:
