An army veteran’s heroic final moments are making the rounds on social media.
Staff Sgt. Matthew Whalen suddenly suffered a stroke that left him on life support. After mulling wrestling with a decision over whether or not to try to keep him alive, his family made the tough choice to take him off life support. The decision enabled Whalen to donate his organs to two other veterans.
A camera started rolling as his medical personnel pushed his hospital bed into the room in which he would eventually die. A Terrible Towel can be seen draped over his right side in the video.
Those who served with the four-time combat veteran and father dressed in uniform and stood at attention as they saluted him one last time.
