Mercedes Watson and Devon Watson-Agnello have a special bond as twins but circumstances separated them for years.
At 8 years old, the twins were removed from the care of their biological mother and for four years after, the two kept in touch.
WXYZ reported that Devon Watson-Agnello, 24, was adopted by Michelle Agnello. According to Agnello, Devon's sister was placed in foster care since Agnello did not have the means to care for her since she has special needs.
"For whatever reason they've lost contact because Devon ... was adopted … the foster parents didn't have to comply with the laws… (on) visitation," Agnello told WXYZ.
For over 10 years, the twins were out of contact with each other.
It was a 2013 report from WXYZ that led Watson-Agnello to his sister.
The report was on a teacher who saved Watson's life when she was choking at a school picnic. From there, Watson-Agnello was able to get the name of the school and WXYZ was able to connect him to his sister's guardian and the two were reunited.
"She's been wishing and praying for this moment," Watson's guardian of eight years said.
And their bond as twins seems as strong as ever. "Sometimes I feel like I feel her (presence)," Watson-Agnello told WXYZ.
"I'm just so happy that we get to get together," Watson said.
