For the second time this month, Floridians have pulled a gator from the ocean.
A little more than a week after a 150-pound gator was pulled from a Fort Myers beach, another one was seen in Amelia Island on Sunday and was pulled from the surf.
WJAX reports that a trapper and a Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission crew member used a fishing pole with a treble rig to reel in the animal after multiple attempts lasting an hour.
Alligators can stand saltwater for hours, or even days, but seeing them in the ocean is an uncommon occurrence, according to wildlife officials. The gator was euthanized Monday under the State Nuisance Alligator Program, according to WJAX.
A Louisiana fisherman was shocked to find out that he hooked an alligator rather than a fish in a viral video that appeared earlier this month. In Florida, a pair of trappers bagged the big one after catching and killing a 15-foot-long alligator that was terrorizing a ranch by killing its livestock.
