Toby the two-nosed dog was found roaming the streets of Fresno, California, before meeting his new owner, Todd Ray.
Ray saved Toby’s life, agreeing to take him in just as a rescue center was planning to put the dog down.
"The sad thing is that, at this time, people will let a two-nosed dog get put down before they will adopt him — only because he looks different," Ray told the BBC.
Ray said he enjoys “different” looking animals. As the owner of the Venice Beach Freakshow — dedicated to the weird and wonderful — he also holds the Guinness World Record for the largest collection of two-headed animals.
“I’m fascinated by weird animals’ beautiful differences and by the magical lessons that they teach us," he said.
