Here's a roundup of news trending across the nation and world today.

What to know now:

1. North Korea bomb test:  North Korean officials claim to have detonated a hydrogen bomb Wednesday, shocking the world community and triggering action from the United Nations. The country's state news agency KCNA said Kim Jong-un ordered the test at 10 a.m. local time on Wednesday that would cause "all-out charge to bring earlier the final victory of the revolutionary cause of Juche (North Korean ideology)," The Associated Press reported. While  there is some  doubt the weapon exploded is a hydrogen bomb, the claim that North Korea has developed a "miniaturized" weapon – which the state media is calling a "H-bomb of justice," has raised questions and concerns around  the globe.

2.  Obama gun violence: At times amid tears, President Barack Obama called Tuesday on citizens, members of Congress and those who have grieved the death of a loved one due to gun violence to join together to implement responsible firearm laws. Obama spoke from the White House surrounded by the families of victims of gun violence, along with survivors of mass shootings, urging Americans to continue to fight "powerful gun lobbies" and to "never give up. "

3. Millennials speak: A survey by the Pew Research Center says the generation known as Millennials have a more positive view of the United States than do their counterparts in other generations except when it comes to religious  institutions and the national media. What do they like? Higher education, large corporations, labor unions and financial institutions.

4. Plans to leave: The leader of the group occupying a building at a wildlife preserve in Oregon says they plan to leave as soon as there is a plan in place to turn over management of federal lands to locals.Ammon Bundy told reporters Tuesday, "It is our goal to get the logger back to logging, the rancher back to ranching."

5. Won't testify yet: Camille Cosby, wife of Bill Cosby, has won a delay in  testifying at  a deposition in a defamation lawsuit involving her husband. A higher court will decide if she can be compelled  to testify against her husband. The lawsuit was brought by seven women who say Bill Cosby defamed them, claiming they had made up allegations he sexually assaulted them. Bill Cosby has been accused of sexual assault by more  than 50 women.

Is Twitter going to abandon its 140 character limit for tweets? Maybe. The company may be increasing the allowed number to as many as 10,000 some reports say.
