Thieves made off with a bell weighing more than 300 pounds from the American Legion Post in Tulsa.
Officials said the donation was so heavy that when the large bell was given to the legion, it had to be brought in with large machines, but thieves were still able to get away with it unnoticed.
The 20” x 26” bell was stolen over the weekend.
Officials say the bell was donated to them and had been used during ceremonies to honor veterans.
"I don't really know what to say about that," the official said. "It just really, really bothers us."
It's believed the thieves may try to scrap it for quick cash. Local scrap yards have been notified.
There is a $100 reward for anyone with information leading to the bell’s discovery.
