The Southeast U.S. seems to have the worst drivers in the country, if one study is to be believed.
Time reported that a study from Smart Asset, a financial technology firm, has determined the best and worst drivers in the U.S.
Smart Asset said it used the total number of drivers per state, people in vehicle-related accidents, the percentage of people in a state with car insurance and Google trends related to speeding tickets to compile the data.
Those factors led to the ranking, with four of the top 10 states being located in the southeast.
At No. 1 is Florida. Smart Asset said its findings that Floridians search Google about speeding and traffic tickets more than other states contributed to its No. 1 ranking.
Third on the list is Oklahoma, which the study found has the lowest percentage of insured drivers at 74 percent.
Texas is at No. 9. It's percentage of drunk driver deaths, according to the study, contributed to its ranking. Smart Asset indicates that the exit of Uber and Lyft may have contributed to the drunken driver deaths, but the claim is not substantiated further in the report.
Massachusetts, a state home to a city frequently labeled as having bad drivers, was 48th on the list.
