A small town east of Denver may have the intoxicating chemical found in marijuana in the water supply.

Officials warned residents not to shower or drink the tap water in Hugo, Colorado after health officials found what they believe to be tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) in the town's water.

According to the Associated Press, drinking water contaminated with THC would be similar to eating marijuana-infused food. The effect would depend on how much was consumed and the strength of the tainted water.

Hugo's population is roughly 700 people.
