Former first lady Michelle Obama marked the Thanksgiving holiday by sharing a recent family photo and well wishes on social media.

"From our family to yours, #HappyThanksgiving!" she captioned the image, posted Wednesday to her official InstagramTwitter and Facebook accounts. By Thursday morning, the holiday greetings had received more than 5 million "likes."

According to People magazine, the portrait, which features Obama standing with her husband, former President Barack Obama, and their daughters, Sasha, 18, and Malia, 21, was snapped six months ago.

The 44th president also took to Twitter on Wednesday to share a few words of advice about holiday disagreements, USA Today reported.

"Before arguing with friends or family around the Thanksgiving table, take a look at the science behind arguing better," he wrote, linking to a Vox article. "And it'll never hurt to try this: 'Listen to people, get them to think about their own experience, and highlight your common humanity.'"
