A San Antonio man is behind bars after authorities said he raped a child and gave her sexually transmitted diseases.

According to the San Antonio Express-News, police arrested Drevon Alexander Perkins, 26, on Tuesday and said he admitted to raping the victim, a 3-year-old girl, in his home earlier this year while taking drugs.

The girl's mother, who was at work during the incident, took the child to the hospital after noticing unusual symptoms, authorities said. Doctors diagnosed the girl with gonorrhea and chlamydia, the Express-News reported.

Perkins was charged with super aggravated sexual assault of a child and jailed on $100,000 bond, Bexar County court records say.
