A teenager hunting for diamonds at an Arkansas state park struck it big this weekend.
Kalel Langford, 14, found a 7.44 carat diamond Saturday at Crater of Diamonds State Park at Murfreesboro, according to The Associated Press. The diamond was approximately the size of a pinto bean and coffee-colored, according to a park interpreter.
Officials said it is the seventh largest diamond found since the park was established in 1972. There was no immediate estimate of the diamond's value, according to park officials.
Langford said that he spotted the diamond near a stream, nestled among rocks. He plans to keep it, and named it "Superman's Diamond."
Crater of Diamonds encourages tourists to hunt for diamonds on its lands. The 40.23 carat "Uncle Sam," the largest diamond ever discovered in the United States, was mined at Crater of Diamonds in 1924.
