A pocket dial to 911 not only landed one woman in jail, but police said it solved two crimes.
Police said a theft at a Walmart on State Road 44 in New Smyrna Beach ended with a play-by-play of the suspect explaining to a 911 dispatcher how the crime went down.
After Ashley Malcom allegedly stole a variety of things from a New Smyrna Beach Walmart, a loss prevention officer called 911 to report it, minutes before Malcolm’s 911 call came in.

The operators proceeded to listen to Malcolm describe to the driver how she needed to get rid of the items she had to make crystal meth.
The 25-year-old assured the man behind the wheel that he wouldn’t get in trouble.
“You weren’t inside Walmart stealing. They don’t have your face. They don’t have anything,” she said in the call.
When deputies pulled the car over, they found ingredients to make meth, an empty syringe and batteries.
Malcolm was charged with shoplifting and possession of chemicals to manufacture meth.
The driver of the vehicle was not charged.
